Yes Satellite is the leading pay TV provider in Israel and one of the largest satellite pay TV operators in the region. At the forefront of technological innovations in the pay TV market, Yes was one of the first pay TV providers worldwide to bring the PVR, OTT based VOD set-top-box and multi-room PVR into the living room.

In 2014, Yes is venturing beyond the set-top-box with the launch of “yes GO”, Israel’s first multi-screen OTT TV service which will be available to current subscribers in Q1 2014, using Tvinci’s revolutionary OTT 2.0 platform.

Tvinci’s solution for social and personal pay OTT TV allows “yes GO” to keep end users at the heart of the viewing experience; retaining the feel of traditional video consumption, with all of the social elements to keep them immersed in the service provider’s ecosystem.

“Tvinci was the natural choice for us, when we took the decision to create an OTT TV service with an immersive user experience,” said Itzhak Elyakim, VP Engineering and CTO, yes Satellite. “yes GO is one of the most sophisticated OTT pay TV solutions in Europe and we are proud to be working with the world’s leading OTT TV platform provider in our adventure beyond the set top box. yes Satellite prides itself on leading the pay TV market in Israel and beyond and we are confident that our combination of excellent content and Tvinci’s social and personal user experience is a potent mix.”

“yes GO” provides a new user experience for subscribers in Israel. Each member of a subscriber household has their own log in for use across all of the device applications. In this way, end users can enjoy relevant social feeds from their own social networks, whilst the viewing experience remains personal across all devices. Upon log in, end users can browse the activity feed on the application homepage which includes real time social activity (e.g. “John Brown liked Dexter”), promoted editorial content and comments from other users in the service. “yes GO” also includes a crowdsourcing component, where users will be informed of popular shows trending in real time. The Tvinci SocialHub allows end users to comment, like and share across devices.

Powered by the capabilities of Tvinci’s OTT 2.0 solution, moving from one device to another is seamless, with a cross device personal zone for each end user which includes dynamic personal recommendations for VOD and live TV, a watch-list comprised of items for viewing later, and a list of EPG reminders. The EPG can be browsed by category, including sports, movies, series and a list of favorite channels which is personal to the end user logged in to the application.

On the tablet the menus remain transparent so that the video continues to play in the background, and on the smartphone application the video reduces to the corner of the screen. The applications include multi-language support for audio, subtitles and metadata.

“yes GO” uses Tvinci for a number of mission critical back end components (including household and device management), as well as the user experience and front end templates. The deployment for “yes GO” includes a number of integration points with existing vendors, showcasing the flexibility and modularity of the Tvinci solution for incumbent operators.
