The Tvinci MediaHub is the management system for cross-device Over-the-Top TV. It is where content and business rules of the OTT service are managed. The MediaHub supports frontend device applications on multiple devices, such as PC/Mac, smartphone, tablet, connected TV, STB and game console. Several functional areas compose the MediaHub, and each of them can work autonomously and/or be easily integrated to the service provider's unique backend systems, so maximal flexibility is guaranteed.

Content Management & Packaging

Through the Tvinci MediaHub, content editors can import/create media assets and associate the equivalent videos and image files to them. The meta-tags entered to this module are used to improve content discovery by end users, to drill-down into analytic information, and to search (both in the frontend application and in the backend). Once the assets have been created/imported, they are grouped manually or automatically into packages for organizational and discovery purposes, or for sale as independent entities. Automatic bundles are created by filtering according to desired meta tags, and ordering the resulting group by various customizable parameters. Subsequently, these bundles are associated with User Interface components and particular prices , and displayed in the device applications.

Business Rules & Campaign Management

Tvinci's business rules module supports a wide variety of business models, including: SVOD, TVOD, video ads, coupons, discounts, freemium, prepaid, and gifts. Service providers can easily create and customize complex Pay Per View and package/subscription rules, in order to define price codes and currencies per device/application or user status, unlimited or X amount of views per module, renewable subscriptions and up-sale offerings. Marketing plans and campaigns can be created and managed, allowing for special offers and up-sales planning and tracking. Pricing of content is device pendent, enabling the service provider to promote particular offerings on specific devices.

Users Management

With the Tvinci backend system, user management works in two operational models where the service provider can choose to either manage the entire user database on the MediaHub, or to integrate an alternative user management system, usually a CRM system that is already used by the service provider. For example, Tvinci is fully integrated with SalesForce as an external CRM, following the requirement of a Tvinci customer. In both instances, user related data is stored and updated regularly following any user related action in the various storefronts/device apps. The service provider can define and customize the information for collection, the frequency and the triggers for updating/overriding of old data.

Device & Domain Management

It has become clear that household members no longer consume content as a single unit, but rather as individuals with different preferences. Therefore, an OTT TV service which is focused on a personalized user experience should be able to differentiate between users within a household. Tvinci has utilized its past pay-OTT implementations to develop an extensive Device and Domain Management module which provides both service providers and end users an OTT experience which is in line with this approach. Differentiating between users within the household enables up-to-date intelligence on each user's favorite content and viewing habits on multiple devices. Users can view their account settings, registered devices, recordings (nPVR), favorites and video-related social activity through a cross device personal zone. Tvinci's Device and Domain management module enables service providers to manage and configure various device and domain backend parameters as well as allowing end users to manage the different users and devices associated with their household.


Tvinci has been developing Pay OTT TV from its early days, having realized that the advertising model alone can't justify a premium content OTT service. When paid content is concerned, DRM becomes an important part of the equation that needs to be solved, and to this end Tvinci's approach has been crucial to the success of operators/broadcaster wishing to extend into OTT. In order to be on ANY device, a service provider must utilize more than one type of DRM, and therefore Tvinci developed its unique multi-DRM module. This module enables Tvinci to integrate multiple DRM and CA types (working simultaneously) for its customers,

including the market leading DRM providers: Microsoft (PlayReady and DRM10), Widevine, Adobe, NDS, Conax, Verimatrix and others – a first in the OTT TV space. The commercial model associated with the content offering (be it TVOD, SVOD, linear bouquet, catch-up service, nPVR, download to own) is defined in the Tvinci MediaHub. It is accompanied with the respective files, target devices and content encryption keys, each allowing for the system to serve the right file/stream. During playback, and when checking any end-user/domain entitlements, the MediaHub produces the right set of DRM licenses required for playback.

Analytics & Business Intelligence

The Tvinci MediaHub generates and arranges video viewing analytics (behavioural) into reports for the service provider’s convenience. Any video related action is tracked, monitored and displayed through the MediaHub. All of the data can be organized according to time frames, user profiling, device, pre-defined meta-tags and technical parameters (geographic location, operating system and browser etc). Permissions can be defined for the viewing of designated reports by external parties.

Financial Reporting

In addition to the Tvinci Analytics, the Tvinci MediaHub includes a module designated particularly for Financial Reporting, where customers can configure various contracts per share. Without a financial reporting system, allocation of revenues to the various content owners can become quite complicated when renting out single items, and even more so when the purchasing a subscription that contains content from various sources. In order to reduce the hassle, Tvinci has created a unique statistical method of calculating the amount owed per item and per owner. Financial reporting and revenue repartition are generated automatically according to pre–defined business rulings and agreements. Tvinci’s financial calculations are performed according to the different business packages offered on the store front, and the results are conveyed to the service provider and various right holders through customizable reports.
